I'm trying to install spore on a mac desktop with mac os x 10.9.2, Ive got it downloaded and all but every time I click on the icon it just shows the spore title with the white background with all the creatures and spaceships on it. No it's not actually if you try to install spore on a mac with steam it says that spore isn't available on this platform to get it on a mac you have to buy it from the website. #15 Showing 1-15 of 19 comments Per page: 15 30 50. Because when the game came out in 2008 Electronic Arts had it available throur their Origins Store for Origins account holders. And it was avaialble for download through that store for both Windows and Mac.
When Electronic Arts basically abandoned the game, but decided they could still use it as a cashgrab, they ported the Windows version to Steam. Only the Windows version. Most likely because their previous sales through their Origins store were to Winodws users, so the people most likely to waste money on it here on Steam would be. You guessed it.
Windows users. If you own a Mac and want the game as old as it is, with no further updates and very little official tech support. Go make an EA/Origins account and buy it there. Go make an EA/Origins account and buy it there. Actually, Origin wasn't available until well after Spore was released. Retail Spore came out Sept 2008.
EA offered Spore through Steam in Dec 2008 (and didn't allow retail owners to register through Steam). Origin launched in 2011. Addendum: Though, it seems there was something called 'EA Loader' that was around as far back as 2005. I'd never heard of it.
So long ago I have/had no idea when EA created Origin. And tbh, I didn't bother to Google it. I found the game through Origin, so I found it a few years after it launched I guess. And didn;t buy it then either.
It sucks getting old and having too much time past to remember everything. Strangely, I remember getting the PONG 'home console' after playing the acade game. First video game stuck in my brain, the rest since then. And endless blurry line.
XD (I only know oft EA Agent Loader for Java agent development, and it was put out by Electronic Arts, but I am not sure when.).
Ok, I've got a problem that I've been seeing similar issues across multiple threads. But here are my specifics: -Mac OS Sierra -Spore (Latest version downloaded from Origin) -Macbook Pro w/ Retina, 13-inch (2013) -Memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 -Graphics: Intel Iris 1536 MB Every time I try to launch the game, my screen displays the white/blue Spore logo, and then goes completely black. It then shows a regular mouse cursor (that I can move around) and nothing else.
No keyboard buttons work, no shortcuts on the trackpad; nothing. I have to hold down the power button to turn the laptop off and back on. I got the game to run once or twice, and then realized it ran faster in windowed-version. So I selected windowed-version and played for all of two minutes. I decided I needed to change the screen size, so I edited my settings, closed the game, and attempted to restart it. Now I am stuck on the previously stated problem. I've tried uninstalling both Origin AND Spore multiple times.
I've edited the config file in Spore. I've even left it in 'black screen' for hours to see if it was just a slow reboot. Hoping I didn't waste $20 on a game that's fun to play, please help!!
